This policy applies to Life Architect sessions specifically. It is the separate written refund policy referred to in our Terms of Service and it replaces the general Refund Policy for Life Architect purchases.
Cancel before we start work on your session and you get everything back. Once we have started, we keep only what the preparation we actually did is worth, never more than $500 and never more than 50% of what you paid, and refund the rest.
It covers all three Life Architect packages: the main session on its own, the main session plus follow-up bundle, and a follow-up session bought on its own. Where a rule below depends on preparation, it means the preparation for the session you are cancelling. A follow-up session bought on its own involves review of your existing plan rather than a fresh intake, and the same rules apply to it.
If you bought the bundle and cancel only the follow-up, we refund the follow-up portion of the bundle price, which is $399, under the rules below.
Life Architect is a live, one-on-one session. It has three parts: individual preparation from your intake answers, up to 2 hours live with Steve including your 90-day summary, and your written Life Design PDF afterward. Of the price, $200 is for the Life Design PDF. This policy follows when each part is delivered.
You can cancel for a full refund any time before we begin individual preparation on your session. We do not begin preparation the moment you submit your intake questionnaire. We begin when Steve sits down with your answers, which is normally within a few days of your intake and always before your session.
If you have not booked a session, you can ask for a full refund at any time within 12 months of purchase, as long as we have not started preparation.
A participant waiver has to be signed before your session. Ask us for it at any time, including before you buy. If you read it and decide not to sign, tell us before your session and we will refund you in full, including any preparation fee, no matter how far along we are.
Once preparation has begun, we keep a preparation fee and refund everything above it.
The fee is what the preparation was actually worth, and nothing more. It is capped at $500, and separately capped at 50% of what you paid, and it is never more than the work we had genuinely completed when you cancelled. If we had done an hour, you are charged for an hour. If we had barely started, you are charged next to nothing. We will send you a written record of the preparation the fee covers, without you having to ask.
This applies if you cancel, or if you do not attend. Rescheduling is handled below and does not by itself cost you anything.
You get one free reschedule with at least 24 hours notice before your start time, measured in Pacific time. Email Steve@TheMarkEffect.com and we will confirm in writing; your notice counts from when you send it, not from when we reply. Steve will offer you a new slot within 60 days of your original date, subject to times you are both free. A second reschedule is at his discretion.
Rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice, more than once, is treated as not attending, and the preparation-fee rule above applies.
If Steve cancels, or cannot deliver your session for any reason on our side, you choose: a new date that works for you, or a full refund of everything you paid, including the preparation fee.
The price becomes final for the delivered parts once your live session has run and your 90-day summary has been given to you in it. "90-day summary" means the summary of your first 90 days that Steve walks you through during the session, not a document delivered 90 days later.
If the session is cut short for a reason on our side, such as a connection failure, it is not complete and we will either finish it or refund you fairly for the part not delivered.
Your Life Design PDF is emailed within 48 hours of the session ending. If we have not delivered it within 7 days, you can ask for the $200 that part of the price represents, and we will refund it.
Email Steve@TheMarkEffect.com with your name and what you are asking for. You will get a written answer within 2 business days, approved or denied, naming the part of this policy it turns on. We issue an approved refund to Stripe within 2 business days of approving it. Your bank then decides when it posts, which is typically 5 to 10 business days.
A Founding Release seat is the main Life Architect session at $899, an introductory price limited to the first 5 seats and offered directly rather than through this site. It follows this same policy in full. Because the preparation fee is capped at half the purchase price, the most it can be at that price is $449.50, and it is still only ever what the preparation was actually worth.
Life Architect payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe.
